Cyber Security: Dark Web and Malicious URLs” was conducted by Dr. R. Sridevi

JNTUH college of Engineering Wanaparthy , organized “A One Day Seminar on CYBER SECURITY 25” on 25-08-2025. In this seminar 90 students have attended the seminar. The seminar on “Cyber Security: Dark Web and Malicious URLs” was conducted by Dr. R. Sridevi. The session highlighted the growing threats in cyberspace and the importance of awareness in tackling them. Dr. Sridevi explained the concept of the Dark Web, its hidden layers beyond the surface web, and how it is often misused for illegal activities such as drug trafficking, data leaks, and financial fraud. She emphasized the role of anonymity tools like Tor, which make monitoring difficult for law enforcement. The seminar also covered malicious URLs, explaining how attackers use phishing links, drive-by downloads, and fake websites to trick users. Dr. Sridevi discussed detection techniques, preventive measures like firewalls and anti-phishing filters, and the importance of cyber hygiene such as not clicking suspicious links, using strong passwords, and updating software regularly.
The session concluded with a strong message on the need for cybersecurity awareness, safe browsing practices, and vigilance to protect personal and organizational data. The seminar was informative and gave valuable insights into real-world threats and preventive strategies.
